Step Up For Students

Step Up For Students is a nonprofit organization that administers the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship for low-income students (K-12). This year, Step Up For Students is providing K–12 scholarships to more than 39,400 low–income students who attend 1,195 different private schools across the state of Florida. Students who qualify may receive more than $4,000 for private school tuition or $500 to help cover transportation to a public school in another county. Companies have contributed more than $900 million to date, providing more than 218,000 scholarships.

The scholarships are income based, not academically based. Families who qualify for the free or reduced-price lunch program may qualify for the scholarship program too. Once a student's eligibility is verified, the parent has the freedom to choose any one of more than 1,350 participating private schools across the state.
